History:
Born to a family of athletes, Ava Teoxihuitl got involved with gymnastics at a young age. She was quite the prodigy growing up, being recruited for an allstars cheerleading team at age five. She competed fiercely in both gymnastics and cheerleading, and her family encouraged her ambition to be the best out there. Success meant winning, and winning meant focusing on little else besides her two passions. She needed to be better. Faster. Stronger.

When Ava discovered her powers in her teens, it created complications with her ability to compete since she'd experience bursts of speed at irregular times whenever she exerted energy. Frustrated, Ava pushed herself harder to gain control of this strange power. Nothing was going to stand in her way of winning, including herself. However it was going to be that easy. During a major competition, Ava slipped up and ended up zipping all over the place.

It was there that a scout noticed her, and asked if she'd be interested in developing her power at Pillar Academy. Ava saw the opportunity and accepted the scout's recommendation. At PA Ava pushed herself to excel in everything and was very quick to master her power. If she couldn't become a professional cheerleader or gymnast (doing so with her powers would've been considered cheating), then she was going to be the best superhero out there.

After fighting crime as the speedster Whirlwind for several years, Ava began missing the sports and competition. During a visit to PA, she was livid to find out that the cheerleading squad was all but nonexistent. She insisted that she replace the old cheer coach and bring cheerleading back to it's former glory. Considering Ava's succesful history, how could they say no?
